God Chose Me: Messi’s Secret Prayer Before His Last World Cup Final
On Sunday, Lionel Messi plays what is, in all likelihood, the last World Cup final of his career. But behind Argentina vs. Spain there’s a story almost no one tells: the quiet faith that unites both benches.
In 2022, an instant before the decisive penalty, the cameras caught Messi looking to the sky and whispering five words. In this video we uncover what he really said — and why the phrase “God chose me” explains the man behind the champion.
On the other side of the pitch, Spain’s coach Luis de la Fuente, who prays every day “not to get a result,” and Ferran Torres, who takes the field carrying a cross and an image of the Virgin Mary. Two rival nations… and one gaze turned upward.
Every quote in this video is documented and reported by public sources.
