Declared Dead for Three Hours He Came Back to Life Thanks to Padre Pio

In 1952, Fra Daniele Natale, a Capuchin friar and spiritual son of Padre Pio, was declared dead in a clinic in Rome. Three hours later, he pulled the sheet from his face and began to speak.

Just days earlier, Padre Pio had made him a promise: “Do not be afraid, I will always be with you.” According to the account Fra Daniele left in writing, during those three hours he found himself in Purgatory. From there he called on Padre Pio, and Padre Pio brought his plea to Our Lady. Fra Daniele came back to life, was healed of the tumor that was supposed to kill him, and lived another forty-two years at the side of his spiritual father.

Today the Church calls Fra Daniele Natale a Servant of God. His cause for beatification has been open since 2012, and his body rests in San Giovanni Rotondo, just steps from Padre Pio.
