1 Million People Saw the Virgin Mary Weep in America | Officially Declared a Miracle

In the spring of 1994, in a modest Orthodox parish in Cicero, Illinois, a painting of the Virgin Mary began to weep tears of fragrant oil — myrrh. Over the following months and years, more than a million people from across the United States and around the world traveled to see the weeping icon with their own eyes, blocking the streets of the town and forcing police to redirect traffic day and night.

This was no legend passed down behind closed doors. The phenomenon unfolded in public, filmed by television news cameras and witnessed by thousands of people of every faith. The Church examined the icon to rule out any deception — no mechanism, tube, or reservoir was ever found — and Metropolitan Philip Saliba officially declared it an authentic miracle, naming the image “The Miraculous Icon of Our Lady of Cicero.”

In this video we retrace the true story of the weeping icon of Cicero: the day of the first tears, the bishop’s test, the immense crowds, the testimonies of the pilgrims, the official recognition, the episodes no one could explain — the skeptical photographer and the bells — and the fire from which the icon emerged untouched.
