American Pilgrim Filmed the Host Bleeding and Beating Like a Heart
An American pilgrim switches on his camcorder in front of a tabernacle and records a consecrated Host that, according to his account, appears engulfed in flames with a beating heart at its center. It is November 12, 1998, in Los Teques, Venezuela. Seven years earlier, that same Host had bled during the midnight Mass of the Immaculate Conception at the Finca Betania shrine, and the bishop had declared it miraculous after the forensic police analyzed it.
In this video we tell the story of the Eucharistic miracle of Betania: from the night of December 8, 1991, when Father Otty Ossa Aristizábal saw blood flowing from a fragment of the Host on the paten, to Daniel Sanford’s original footage. We cover the blood analysis (human, type AB), the official declaration of Msgr. Pío Bello Ricardo in 1992, and the Augustinian Recollect Sisters of the Heart of Jesus, who still guard the Host in perpetual adoration today.
